Hi Kalyana,
dbmsrv is the program which actually does the work when any trigger happens from frontend tool dbmcli. When no operations are running, you should not see any dbmsrv process on the server.

Installation error
Hi Guys
I get the following error installing NW7.01 MaxDb 7.7 Windows 2008:
Error during execution of command identifier 'PARAM_INIT' : com.sap.dbtech.rte.comm.RTEException: Cannot connect to host localhost:7210 [Connection refused: connect], -813.
I can connect to the Db with dbmcli. db_enum works; db_start works then stops in a second with -24993 ERR_RTE.
Any ideas?

Hello Mr.Kalyan,
Usually, the DBM server is not started explicitly by the user, rather it is started implicitly (for example) by the tool Database Manager CLI (DBMCLI) when the administrative DBM command is called. For example (dbm_*)
All the messages of the DBM server are contained in the log dbm.prt in the work directory (run directory). Error messages of the DBM server are also logged in the file dbmsrv_<computer_name>.err that is stored in the directory above the work directory (run directory) in the directory <GlobalDataPath>/wrk.
If you are a SAP customer - Refer to the Note: 1694323 - FAQ: SAP MaxDB remote SQL server and DBM server.

The error indicates -813: SERVERDB must be restarted
Explanation
The database system is not running, or an invalid database name was specified in the program.
Fix
The database administrator must start the database instance

We stopped our installation in the phase ( install Databse client ) and trying to install with MaxDB 7.7 we are getting below error after giving the path of MaxDB software.
ERROR 2013-03-13 18:15:40.379

Kindly suggest.
One more thing if we upgrade old MaxDB 7.6 to MaxDB 7.8 will it be ok to install Solman 7.1 with out any issue.

Please first check if the localhost in hosts file is correct.

as for upgrade, it is best to install Solman 7.1 with 7.7 first and then upgrade the databases to 7.8

How Gurus,
Here am facing one critical issue, i.e. while doing update got struck in IMPORT_PROPER phase with below error, i think to solve this issue we need to release request. but am unable to execute se03 or se09/se10/se01.
Error:

first i tried with below command to know request
tp GETOPENCORR SM3 pf=
it has given request SM3K900005
Next i executed below command to release task
tp export SM3K900004 -s SM3 pf=D:\usr\sap\trans\bin\TP_DOMAIN_QAS.PFL but it has given error as below ERROR: Prep export method failed with rc=8. stop i tried with SM3K900005 also it is giving error as "not a request".

SAP MAXDB Installation Problem on HP-UX
Hi All,
We are trying to install a new MAXDB 7.8 on a new HP-UX 11.31 VPAR.
The installation is being run as root user.
The installation errors with the command and output below.
/exp/export/SAPCDS/731MAXDB/51044253_12/DATA_UNITS/MAXDB_HPUX_IA64
# ./SDBINST -l
ERR: Installation failed
ERR: Error
ERR: Checking installation kit failed
ERR: Checking package SQLDBC 77 failed
ERR: Software isn't runnable on your system:
testFile = elf HP-UX 64-bit msb IA64 shared object
We have logged a high priority Support message with SAP, however so far they have not been able to assist.
We cannot proceed until this problem is solved.
Can anyone please assist?
