Re: SAP system copy problem with the log file

Hi Richard,

 

actions on source system are correctly done.

But on the target system you may not delete the log volume ( in your case a file)  even when a data backup only contains the application data and the before images a valid log file is necessary.

 

So please use on the target system the following procedure

 

Database Studio -> Administration Tasks -> Recovery -> recover a Medium

The wizard asks you if you want to initialize the database before the recovery - this is the important difference which you have to choose

 

MARK check box initialize Database before Recovery

 

-> NEXT

 

Then choose the backup and change the configuration of the source system which is displayed to the target system. - here you can change the log file destination.

 

 

This process is called homogenious system copy. If you are a SAP custoemr you can find SAP notes about this process in OSS System.

 

 

By the way you can integrate both databases into the same database Studio and administer both databases in one database studio with the version 7.9.08.12.
