Hello David,

Thanks a lot for your answer: I unfortunately don't have access to the support notes, we are using MaxDB in a non SAP environment and SAP support notes require a login. Is it possible for you to please send me the content by email?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Christophe

We are using MaxDB for Live Cache. We are using Version 7.9.08.08 and have logshipping to the DR Server.

Currently we have 7 data files:

DATA0001 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata1

DATA0002 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata2

DATA0003 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata3

DATA0004 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata4

DATA0005 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata5

DATA0006 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata6

DATA0007 6,291,456 KB FILE /sapdb/L1P/sapdata1

The filesystems have been sized at 35GB each.

Today we fpounf that the filesystem /sapdb/L1P/sapdata1 has become full and when we view the filesystem we see the following:

root@<hostname>:/sapdb/L1P/sapdata1# ls -lrt

total 64678928

Different execution plan for the same sql statement

Hi all,

When I check the same sql statement in different systems,   P system and Q system.

It shows different execution plan for inner join

Sql statement

SQL statement.PNG
Excution plan

For system P    the value of MANDT is 1     table EKPO accessed first with full table scan.

Explain P.PNG

For system Q    the value of MANDT is 4     table EKKO accessed first with index EKKO~1(in P also has this index)

Explain Q.PNG

Data volume in Q is a little bit larger than P.

Could you please help to find out why there is such a difference?  which one is correct?

How the optimizer works when process the inner join for maxDB?

Thanks & Regards,

Chris

Hello Chris,

Check if the statistics are up to date on these tables - Perform and UPDATE STATISTICS for the tables and then compare the execution plan.

Hi,

I know that this is a very old problem, but did anybody resolved the issue?

I have exactly the same problem and it is not due to a new tape required as I use the backint for Oracle interface...

Thanks

Raf

Hello,

please read the following SAP note regarding supported Java version:

1097311 - SAP MaxDB Database Studio Installation

This requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) with Version 5.

Ensure that you have installed the Java runtime environment (32-bit/64-bit) that is suitable for your Database Studio. Use the 32-bit Java runtime environment only if you use Database Studio in the 32-bit variant.

Best Regards,

Valerio

hanging NAGIOS processes

Hello,

I have a question concerning NAGIOS. We monitor our productive systems with NAGIOS. Therefore a user NAGIOS is created to monitor the system. With this User NAGIOS connects to the system and monitors the system. We have the phenomenon that there are hanging NAGIOS sessions on our BW system. There are multiple Login sessions of the User Nagios. I can only resolve this issue by logging out User NAGIOS manually from the system. My question: Why does the User NAGIOS connects more than once to the system ? Why are there these hanging NAGIOS sessions ? How can this be prevented ?

Kind Regards

Statistics Update via Reports (RSADAUP1 - 3) obsolete/alternative

Hello,

till now it was possible to update statistics via the reports RSADAUP1 - 3 . In new releases it is obsolete as SAP changed the DB13 behaviour.

But we still want to use them.

Why? We have an external Job Scheduling tool which shall start and check the whole statistics updates. So we started the Report and got a return code from it.

So how to start it without the report?

We dont' want to use the DB13 itself.

Thanks

Jan

Maria,

I guess your question has been resolved by now, but if not, let me add that at "Device/File" you have to enter the full path to that medium.

Hi Thorsten,

The file location was defined in the media creation. CDB still does not recover, but I am wondering if it really matters. Does the cache get regenerated when there is activity in the SDB? Aside from that I am waiting for response from SAP Marketplace as to why OAC0/CSADMIN is unable to connect, with authorization errors. All the notes/fixes, IIS. windows firewall settings etc have been done and the URL tests work.

Thanks Maria

Re: Error "-9400 AK Cachedirectory full"

Hello Thorsten,

Thank you a lot for your answer. We actually increased the CAT_CACHE_SUPPLY yesterday to 1000000 and also modified our application a few days ago such that java prepared statements are closed as soon as possible after being used (which was not always the case). Both changes seem to have had a positive effect, we are having much less AK Cachedirectory errors.

However I noticed that after a DB restart, if the load is immediately very high (this is the case when we have a crash during a working day), we sometimes get quite many AK errors very quickly, probably because the size of the cache is increased each time it almost gets full and it is initially far too small after a restart and needs to be "increased" many times.

Hence the question: is it possible to specify a minimum size for the cache to make sure that after a restart, it's big enough to "sustain" the sudden load? How can I also exactly query the size of the catalog cache? There is the table COMMANDCACHESTATISTICS but this the SharedSQL cache, right?

How can I also reliably check how many active connections the DB has? I checked the number of sessions in the SESSIONS table, but this seems to be lower than the number of JDBC connections currently active in our application. We actually increased the paramater MaxUsers from 150 to 300 as we had some "connection refused" errors, although our application had around 100 open JDBC connections (select count(*) from SESSIONS was about 70), so much less than 150. It's a bit too early to say, but it seems to have also solved the problem. It's not clear too me why we had connection problems.

Finally regarding the generation of the archive, I will check that this week-end as I don't want to generate it while all my collegues are working.

Thanks a lot for your time, we really appreciate.

Christophe

Hello Thorsten,

I ended up not looking at it we restored the Production LiveCache Database and re-setup the logs. We are monitoring it at the moment.

David
