Yes. The issue has been resolved after the close of all services. But this time it gives different error. whilestatrt the db_start ..syntax.
-24994,ERR_RTE: runtime environment error > -11987,Parameter RUNDIRECTORY is missing

Just recently my MaxDb server ran out of diskspace on the data volume, during that time the server attempted to create four devices that all appear empty on the OS level.
Now when I try to start the service it fails with I/O error on those devices. (see attached picture)
How can I fix this ?

I´ve executed the dbstudio with the path and I get the same error. After I´ve tried with this
dbstudio.exe -vm "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" then I don't the message error, but the application doesn't start....
I've installed the jre 64 bits and it works.

Iam running into an installation error by installing MaxDB Studio with >> maxdb-studio-win-64bit-x86_64-7_9_08_01.exe<<
I had a long time ago this software installed but the MAxDB Studio is no longer working.
So I deleted this directories manually:
C:\Program Files\sdb
with sub directory MaxDB3 !!! an all others
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAPDB
C:\Users\<username>\sdb
My Java-Version accoring to installation is Java/TM) 6 Update25(64bit), Oracle, 6.0.350
By reinstalling I am a bit irritated becaus ethe Installation Manager now says as Installation Name: MaxDB4
and as Installation path: C:\Program Files\sdb\MaxDB4
I thoungt I could install it new, but Iam runing into the following errors:
ERR: Cannot install package Installer
ERR: Cannot persist package
ERR: Cannot create new installed package
ERR: Package already exitsts
ERR: Skipping installation of package Global Listener due to previous errors (root cuase package installer)
ERR: Skipping installation of package Installation Compatibility due to previous errors (root package Installer)
My question is, what do I do wrong have I forgto ro delete somethiung so I can start form scratch on wit the reinstallation?

i have done NW & DB studio installation , while deploying MII 14.0 using SUM tool .

Hello!
We have a development/test SAP system with several dummy/test clients. Also there we have several clients comming from copy of productive clients.
Now we are considering to delete some of not used clients.
Does the size of DB automatically decrease after this action or do we need to do the DB reorganisation in order to stop the growth of the DB?

After client deletion , you may need to perform reorganization to reduce the DB occupany space.
If not, SAP will be automatically reuse the free blocks available in the database space.

Latest MaxDB version is 7.9 for SAP. Check on SAP PAM for the latest supported version for your SAP release.

if you are doing a system copy with Database Studio from productive system PRD to the system KON then you choose
Recover a medium and additonally mark Initialize database. This will format the Log area of system KON - and after the format has been finished the recovery is done with the backup.
Then the restart is done implicitely. This is the procedure for a homogenious system copy with backup and recovery. Please notice it differs from 'normal' backup and restore on the same server. Here you do NOT format the log during normal recovery process.
External backup tools are integrated by definition of the correct backup template. See Database Studio manuals.

No database restore is being done by using data protector tool.
And these data files and log files are being restored by this tool only.
So in this case do we need to use initialize option after database restore??

Hi Mohit,
is you use a backup created on database A e.g. PRD and restore it on a different database B e.g. KON then YES you have to use the procedure I described above with Initialization.
If you restore a backup created on database A and restore this backup on the same database A then ypu must not execute with initialize because this will delete the log entries.
So it is a difference if you restore the backup on the same database where the backup has been created. Or if you restore the backup on a different database -> then use with Initialize.
This is independant if you are using external backup tolls or not. This is the backup -> Recovery procedure with databaseStudio for system copies.
