Please update with output:

java -version

 

Did you restart studio as Administrator?

 

In your case Eclipse workspace cannot be used => Run the following steps:

 

Save the following file:
    <HOME>/<user>/sdb/DatabaseStudio/.metadata

Delete the folder <HOME>/<user>/sdb/DatabaseStudio.

Restore the file :

     <HOME>/<user>/sdb/DatabaseStudio/.metadata    

Restart the database studio as Administrator.

Hi,

 

    I want to copy tables from  mysql database to maxdb,  I successfully exported .CSV files from mysql but could not import from maxdb side..  can you help me please how  can i import from maxdb. Or any other method to copy my (HR database in mysql) data from mysql to maxdb.. either synchronization method or export/import or any other method..

Hi,

I restore the studio and re-installed.. problem get resolved.

But i have one problem here that i want to copy the data from mysql to maxdb. For that i exported tables in .csv files from mysql but could not import from maxdb.

can you help me please how can i?? from this or synchronisation or any other method..

Do you have SAP instances running on mysql as well as MaxDB database ?

If not share details of application running on these databases.

Hi Christiane,

 

thank you very much for your answer. I am not a specialist in maxdb, so I want to be sure, that I understood it well.

1) I have to set an index AFRU~Z03: PERSNR, WERKS, ERSDA

2) I have to set an index S022~Z01: AUFNR, VORNR

Hello Stefafn,

 

no you don't need to change the SQL statement. The optimizer is checking only the where condition to find the bnest strategy. the qualification is important finding the best index.

 

Just to be sure you sent the output of index S022~Z01 which is created correctly, but the index definition you sent of AFRU~z03 does not correspond to the index structure which I recommend.

 

The screen shot shows a different index structure than recommended:

Shown index structure: MANDT,WERKS,ERSDA,PERNR

 

recommended index structure PERNR,WERS,ERSDA

Notice even when the shown index shows the same columns the order of the index fields is important.

So please create an addtional index with the following order -> PERNR,WERKS,ERSDA

Please do not remove the other indexes which are existing n the table.

Hi,

 

you can use the MaxDb tool loadercli to import csv data into the MaxDb database.

You will find documentation how to use loadercli using the follwing link:

http://maxdb.sap.com/documentation/

 

tools -> Loader you'll find how to import the data into MaxDB.

MAxdb restore stuck with error "connect to pipe failed"

Hi Gurus,

 

We are doing the system copy on sandbox server from the production system and on the DB recovery step . We are doing the manual restore.

OS: windows 2008, DB: MAXDB 7.8.2.31.

 

Using netbackup tool for restore, we are triggering the restore from DB studio after defining the label.

 

The restore preparation gets successful but the backup tool terminates with the below error in dbm.prt file

Problem when installing NetWeaver 2004 on MaxDB

Hello,

 

my goal is to  create a lightweight SAP installation, which could be used in a VM on a slow computer.

Therefore I have decided to go for NetWeaver 2004 and use MaxDB.

 

The installation went fine. After sapinst finished, I've noticed, that SAP is not running. I tried to start it, but:

 

Database start failed

I recalled, that during the sapinst steps, there was nothing like Installing the DB software or Importing the DB,

as it can be seen in NetWeaver 7.0 for example. I went through the NetWeaver 2004 installation guide, but I

didn't find almost nothing about DB installation... No luck either on google!! They only explain how to install

MaxDB if not used with SAP.

Does the DB has to be installed in advance (like an installation on MSSQL) and if yes - what would be the

procedure for doing that ?

0kb Backup logfiles

Hello experts,

we face the following problem: sometimes logbackups are cancelled due to network problems (MaxDB 7.9.07.010 64Bit on Windows):

 

Error in backup task occured, Error code 3700 "hostfile error"

1,Open file \\<my-backup-share>\LOG.130 failed, CreateFile(WRITE,CREATE) returned

the specified network name is no longer available.' (64)

 

This error occurs only from time to time and it seems that this is a network problem. The next time when the log backup is scheduled (15 mins later) it works and the next logfile is much more bigger than the standard logfile size (so we are sure that all open logs are written in this file). But anytime this problem occurs we face the problem, that MaxDB writes log backup files with 0kb (empty files). As we tried to make a restore test, we saw that the restore cancels because MaxDB studio expects files with a size bigger then 0kb.

 

Has somebody else seen this problem and maybe knows a solution how to deal with this? We want to make sure that we will be able to restore the database completely in case of a system crash.

I've set the indices and it works greatfully. The response time is under 3 seconds.

Hi Symon,

 

As per my experience it is not required to install maxdb first like MS SQL.

 

sapinst will ask you for maxdb rdbms dvd.

 

Now you need to verify whether database it installed or not? if possible install db studio and check.

 

if database installed check Xuser settings are fine.
