there is a VSS writer for MaxDB - recently we have released one as part of our backup solution MaxBack (see http://www.maxback.io).
It is based on the external backup feature explained in note 822240 - but adds automatic VSS Integration for backup and restore. The VSS writer has been designed explicitly for support of Veeam Backup.
