Hello Jens-Peter,

I got another idea - with explain we got the information which index is used for the index only strategie -> RO_STATE

Would you please drop and recreate the index and check if you have still wrong results after the index has been dropped and newly created.

Regards, Christiane

Hi,

ok, if you are using at least MaxDB 7.7.02.06, version 7.8 or version 7.9, you can simply:

- bring the database to 'admin' state

- and then use dbmcli from the command line to recreate and format the log area with 'util_execute clear log'

You would loose any redo information kept on the log volumes, but as you deleted those volumes, there is nothing left to help you with that. However, if the database was stopped without any transactions left open, you would not loose anything. The 'undo' information is kept on the Data Volumes, which is good for you. Worst case would be a long running transaction which could not be redone because of the missing log info.

Keep in ming to start a full data backup afterwards, because this is mandatory to be able to perform log backups.

If you are using MaxDB 7.6, please try to go to 'admin' state and perform a full backup (make space for that backup, there is no other option besides manual patching the log volume). Then, recover your database using that backup with the option to initialize the database, that is all data and log volumes are formatted before the recovery starts.

MaxDB backup problem

Good day all

I'm not sure what I amy be doing wrong. A few days ago I installed a Solution Manager 71 (MaxDB 78) system on Win 2012. I am trying to get data and log backups configured with DB Studio but getting errors that I cant find too much information on. When I go into the backup function and try to define a backup medium, I am presented with the message "Saving backup template <name> has encountered a problem". Quite a lot of stuff but the popup displays:

And this doesnt mean anything to me. I also find very vague reference to it on the internet.

Can anyone give some direction please?

Regards

Ray Phillips

Dear Raymond,

Open Backup Template.xml file from S:\sapdb\SSM\data\wrk\SSM\ and check whether it contain wrong statements. if there remove and try to take backup again

Hello JITHIN

Thanks you. What did happen is that I made an error and specified an incorrect location and this appears to have added the invalid lines to the xml file. I removed those and it worked OK. Thansk again.

SAP LiveCache / MaxDB error

0
0

hi,

We are migrating from Solaris 10 to solaris10-Zone / Solaris-11 global configuration. While moving existing LiveCache to new h/w, we experiencing issues of Bad Page / Bad data / Bad log etc. Not sure, if this is due to new h/w and zone config. LiveCache is 7.7.07.46 / Build25. I have gone over Solaris related LiveCache / MaxDB notes.

If any of you had similar issue, would appreciate, if you could share your experience.

Thanks,

Raj

hi Deepak,

Initially file-systems were mounted on new h/w directly. However after seeing errors, we restored the offline data backup with initialization. Both cases, error showed up. No issues with previous settings.

Hi Raj,

Please refer below link for the steps to migrate Livecache.

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3426641

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3426642

From the error messages it looks like data is corrupt. Reason may due to faulty disk or faulty backup.

You should try the following

1) Perform disk verification on both the servers

2) Perform new full backup and restore it again

3) Raise an OSS message to SAP Global Support.

Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori

hi Deepak,

The change is only Solaris-10 ---> Solaris-10 in zone inside Solaris-11 global. I doubt, if this requires any Livecache migration process. The restored data was LiveCache data consistency checked and off-line backup. We made sure, no data inconsistency in the backup.

Unix team checked the disk verification on raw disks volume for data and log. We are not sure,if there any OS level settings causing the error.

Thanks,

Raj

Hi,

This is Jay. I am SCN member. I want to register for MAX DB training in Q1 2014. While I try to attempt register it prompts to enter userid and password. I could not login with SCN membership. I do not have any other membership other than SCN member.

Kindly advise how to enroll for MAX DB training.

Thanks

Jay.

Backup history file error

For some time, error with backup history file is repeating. For example, I have MaxDB 7.9.07.10 on Suse SLES 11SP02. In Database Studio when I want to open backups I get error message:

When I check backup log in dbacockpit I see:

It disturbs our backup quite a bit, backup can't be continued until I manually delete wrong lines in file /sapdb/AED/data/wrk/AED/dbm.knl, for example:

Is this MaxDB error or is there something I can do to stop this error happening again?

trying to download maxdb database sudio 64 bit...file is 0kb
